Marjorie Dick Stuart is more than just an accomplished real estate agent. She and her husband, Bill Stuart, are long-time volunteers and philanthropists in the DC community.
Bill and Marjorie support a range of charitable initiatives, and for many years they have been focused on helping DC's homeless. One of Marjorie's favorite organizations, Friendship Place, provides DC's homeless with housing, job placement, and even counseling. Marjorie and Bill recently supported the 14th Annual Friendship Place Friends and Neighbors Breakfast, helping to raise over $720,000 to help end homelessness.
Below is a letter to Marjorie outlining Friendship Place's great work, and the real impact supporters like Marjorie can have right here in DC. We hope you, too, will consider supporting this important cause.
Dear Marjorie and Bill:
We are so glad that you joined us for the 14th Annual Friendship Place Friends and Neighbors Breakfast! Thanks to your generous investment in our programs and services, we were able to raise $720,000!
This year's Breakfast was the best-attended and one of the most successful to-date! You made this possible, thank you. You also enabled the successful outcomes of the participants from whom you heard speak. Kelvin, Saudia, and Ovidio vividly told their personal experiences with homelessness and they also demonstrated how Friendship Place was able to help them to get back on their feet and start new lives. All of which was made possible by...you.
These strong and determined Friendship Place participants represent just a small fraction of the thousands of people who Friendship Place serves every year, and we couldn’t do any of our work without YOU!
You make the Breakfast a success, and your partnership enables us to help our neighbors find homes, jobs, confidence, and most importantly...hope.
We have already begun to put your investment to work, and we will be sure to keep you updated on our progress -- our successes and our challenges.
With immense gratitude,
Your Friendship Place Family
